Work in Ekerö Municipality
We have made a decision! We aim to be a leading municipality – and we have everything it takes to succeed. Short decision-making paths, collaboration across organizational boundaries, and the willingness to take more risks. Our high ambitions provide you with opportunities to grow and create positive change for the citizens. As an employee of Ekerö Municipality, you will have a valuable role in our unique archipelago – and we look forward to your application.
The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for harnessing initiatives and encouraging new activities by collaborating with civil society. Ekerö Municipality is a community full of activities and meetings between people, with a rich association life and many creative residents. Sports interest is widespread, and we have a very broad range of different sports. We have an active culture school, open leisure activities for youth that harness their own initiatives, inviting cultural houses and libraries, as well as many valuable cultural environments, including the two World Heritage sites Drottningholm and Birka Hovgården, Stenhuggarbyn on Färingsö, and our own Ekebyhov Castle - Sweden's largest preserved wooden castle, which has been owned by the municipality since the 1980s.
Job Description
We believe in you and your abilities – that’s why we give you great freedom in your role. Many who work with us appreciate the trust and responsibility they receive in our municipality, as it contributes to much learning and development in everyday life. To succeed, you need to be confident in yourself, your profession, and have the ability to both take initiative and set boundaries.
In 2026, Ekerö Municipality will open a leisure bank where residents can borrow sports and leisure equipment free of charge. The purpose is to increase accessibility and equality regarding the opportunity to engage in leisure and sports activities. The leisure bank also contributes to increased sustainability by encouraging reuse and reducing the need to purchase new equipment.
The leisure bank will be staffed by an operations manager, and we are now looking for someone who wants to take on that role and be proactive in the startup of the operation. In the initial phase, you will work with environmental monitoring, organizing, purchasing and collecting equipment, producing informational materials, and marketing the leisure bank. Once the operation is established, you will be responsible for opening hours and operations. The work involves both on-site work in the leisure bank's premises and outreach work where you meet and inform citizens and partners. The plan is for the leisure bank to be located in or near Ekerö center.
In this role, you will work independently and take significant personal responsibility. The leisure bank is intended to be staffed by a person who will also guide individuals in work training over longer periods. Your position is placed within the municipality's culture and leisure administration, but you will also be part of a team around participants where colleagues from the social administration are involved. In close collaboration with occupational therapists and other work supervisors, the focus will be on creating tasks related to the leisure bank's operations, where citizens can try and train their work capacity and take steps towards self-sufficiency. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy both independent work and collaborating and guiding others.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in project management or organizing and running operations.
- Good habits of working independently and taking personal responsibility.
- Experience in mentoring or leading others, preferably in contexts such as work training or internships.
- The ability to meet and engage with people in a professional and friendly manner.
- A service-oriented and solution-focused attitude.
- The ability to work systematically with administration and documentation.
- The ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Driver's license (B)
You have a high school education and preferably post-secondary education in areas such as leisure management, sports and health, social work, administration, or other education that the employer deems relevant. Experience can replace formal education.
We also hope that you meet the following qualifications:
- Experience in starting up or developing new operations or new working methods.
- Experience working in a leisure bank or similar lending or reuse operations.
- Experience in purchasing and/or collecting materials or equipment.
- Experience in producing informational materials or working with communication, such as web or social media.
- Experience in collaboration with associations, organizations, or civil society.
- Knowledge of or experience working in a municipal organization.
- Experience in sustainability or reuse work.
Start date: 2026-04-01 or by agreement
Scope: Full-time
Employment form: Permanent
